The Tate Exchange finally opened its doors on the 28th September and UAL Digital Maker Collective are really looking forward to being part of an exciting new journey as one of over 50 UK Tate Exchange Associates from across the country.
Tate Exchange Associates include charities to universities, healthcare trusts to community radio stations working within and beyond the arts, working closely with one another and with Tate to respond to the theme of ‘exchange’. See the full list of Associates on the Tate Exchange website.
The Digital Maker Collective are one of three University of the Arts London Founding Associates invited to be part of the Tate Exchange 2016/17 programme. the other UAL associates include Interior and spatial design programme at Chelsea College of Arts and the Central Saint Martins Fine Art programme.
The Digital Maker Collective is an open group of arts staff, students, alumni, arts sector & arts/tech industries who explore and critique digital making, emergent digital practice, collaboration and the sharing economy through regular interdisciplinary interest led group meet-ups, gatherings, activities and events.
The Digital Maker Collective values:
- Support and share unique perspectives of digital making & emergent practice in the arts (openness)
- Foster a co-produced, participatory approach to exploring digital arts learning and social engagement (trust & generosity)
- New perspectives & research on the impacts of digital on the the art school, sector & industries (Risk)

It's really fantastic to see our Digital Maker Collective represented along side the other inspirational associates at the entrance of Tate Exchange.
Nicholas Serota spoke about the team journey in making the Tate Exchange a reality, he talked about the exciting new opportunity the Tate Exchange offered to public and how they hope the 'experiment' will transform the way the arts engage with the community.
